Here at Kozzii, there’s nothing like sewing hacks to make our day. These are SO good, we just had to share them with you.
If there’s anything which makes sewing a little bit quicker or easier, then we are keen to hear about it, so you can imagine our delight when we stumbled on these babies.
When you’ve got a lot on your plate and deadlines to meet, the last thing you want to do is spend time on the tiniest of tasks. Yet somehow it’s always the little things that seem to take the longest.
This is where this handy video from 5-Minute Crafts comes in. In just a quarter of an hour, you will have transformed your sewing life, guaranteed.
Check out some of the best bits:
Knot like a pro
Sometimes just threading a needle and getting a decent knot can get you in a bit of a pickle, especially if you’re in a rush and need to thread up quick.
Well, knot (ahem) anymore! The video shows you how you can ‘knot up’ super quick, and even better- you can do the whole lot with one hand.
Simply thread your needle and wrap the thread around your needle a few times, pull it back on itself et voila!
Roll up roll up
It’s always annoying to go to your thread or wool box, only to find they’ve completely unraveled and are now in a hopeless tangle – but fear not, help is at hand!
This life-saving video shows you how to salvage your threads using a loo roll and a whisk. We kid you not. Just wrap one end of the wool around a loo roll, with it slotted onto the end of an electric whisk. Turn it on and problem solved.
You can get yourself in a bit of flap when trying to remove pins and whilst also trying to store them somewhere safe so they don’t roll on the floor and ultimately end up embedded in your foot.
Well, fret no more as 5-Minute Crafts (which should probably be known as 5-minute miracles) have got your back.
And the solution is simple: sew your pincushion to your wrist. Not literally, but as the video shows, you can just stitch your pincushion to a scrunchie, pop it on your wrist and you’re good to go.
Lint roll life changer
This one is a real game-changer. You’ve probably already got a lint roller knocking around in your kit bag and one in the draw somewhere, but did you think of using it for tidying up?
Well, we didn’t but now, thanks to this hack, we have one permanently situated on the sewing table.
And it’s purpose? Why? for wiping away all those annoying bits of thread. Genius.
Don’t have an iron? Perhaps you’re on the go and you need a super speedy solution. Why not whip your straighteners out as the video suggests.
This is super helpful if you just want to do something simple, like pressing a hem down, and means you don’t even need to spend any time setting up. Perfection.
