We have given you our top wardrobe kit essentials but have you ever wondered what the three golden rules of styling would be? Thanks to Conde Nast’s fashion school, and stylist Danielle Griffiths, we can share with you 3 top professional wardrobe hacks.
There is a lot to take in when you’re new to the styling world – or even if you’ve been in the trade a while, there are always new things to learn.
Successful stylist and overall badass business woman Danielle Griffiths -who is also the author of Fashion Stylist’s handbook shared some of her most sought-after secrets during a lecture with the fashion school.
Team blogger for Fridja got to join her for the ride and revealed three key titbits of info which could transform your styling kit:
Save your dry cleaning hangers
Is there anything more irritating than those white, sticky, deodorant marks that stain clothes? Well, the market is saturated with bottles of fancy liquids promising to do the trick and get rid of them for you, however, Danielle dropped a bombshell so sneaky, it may have revolutionised laundry.
According to her words of wisdom, you don’t need to waste your money on bottles of magic potions but instead use the foam from your dry cleaning hangers.
Simply rub them over the affected area and Bob’s-your-uncle – the grime is gone.
Always carry a pop-up dressing room
This may seem like a strange request, but it’s a valid one especially if you are doing a shoot on location and have problems securing somewhere private for the model/actor to get changed.
Go prepared, is Danielle’s advice and take matters into your own hands, making sure you’re never in that awkward situation again.
You can always buy specialist ready-made equipment, but Danielle’s advice is even better- suggesting you make your own out of a hula hoop and fabric which can be suspended from or attached to the ceiling! A great idea.
Button up ‘right’
This may sound like an odd one, but its actually really useful to know – especially for seamers taking things apart and putting things back together again.
Men’s shirts, jackets, and basically anything else that buttons up, goes from left-right. For ladies clothing it is right-left.
Always good to know.
